چکیده

The mechanism of selenium(+4) electrocbemical reduction in acidic perchlorate solutions was studied. Dropping mercury and hanging mercury drop electrodes were used in direct current, alternating current, pulse and differential pulse polarographic and voltammetric measurements. Potentiostatic electrolysis experiments on mercury electrode were also performed. Precipitates formed on the electrode surface were identified using the x-ray diffraction and x-ray fluorescence. At the mercury electrode surface, depending on selenium concentration in the solution, mercury selenide 01' elemental selenium was accumulated. The results were greatly influenced by the presence of Hg2+ions in the perchlorate medium. The potential of the peak is pH dependent. Surface active substances supress the peak height, while the cupric ions significantly enhance ito

ELECTROCHEMICAL BEHAVIOUR OF U(V1) NITRATE IN CHLOROFORM AT A MERCURY ELECTRODE THE DEPENDENCE ON SUPPORTING ELECTROLYTE

The mechanistic aspects of the electrochemical reduction of U(V1) nitrate at a mercury electrode in chloroform, using three different supporting electrolytes, are described. In the presence of tetrabutylarnmonium perchlorate (TBAP) as a neutral electrolyte, UO (NO ) , reduced in two irreversible electrochemical steps to form a U(V1)-U(V) binuclear complex and U(IV), respectively. In the pr...

A Study on Tannic Acid-doped Polypyrrole Films on Gold Electrodes for Selective Electrochemical Detection of Dopamine

Tannic acid-doped polypyrrole (PPY/TA) films have been grown on gold electrodes for selective electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA). Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) studies revealed that, in vivid contrast to perchlorate-doped polypyrrole films (PPY/ClO4), the redox switching of PPY/TA films in aqueous solutions involved only cation transport if the solution pH was great...

Participation of the dissolved O2 in the passive layer formation on Zn surface in neutral media

The composition of the passive layers formed on Zn electrode in naturally aerated and de-aerated 0.1 M KClO4 solution were studied using X-ray hotoelectron spectroscopic measurements (XPS). A correlation between the presence of dissolved O2 and the formation of an interior passive ayer was carried out. Librated Cl− from the perchlorate reduction reaction was detected in its solutions during Zn ...

An Electrochemical Investigation of the Redox Properties of Murexide in Aqueous and Non-Aqueous Media

Knowledge of solvent effects on the redox properties of Murexide (Mu) is important for understanding its role as an electron acceptor in analytical and inorganic chemistry. In the present study, an investigation of the electrochemical behavior of the compound by both Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) in both aqueous and non-aqueous solutions was undertaken...
